SAP DB's CD-ROM Available For Free (beer) 5

rabalde writes: "You can order now and free of charge the CD-ROM "SAP DB 7.3, SAP's Open Source Database" from the SAP Shop. It contains the content of the SAP DB web site, all SAP DB software for all platforms supported by SAP DB (a lot of platforms), all SAP DB sources and the development environment and all SAP DB documentation. I've already ordered mine, so now all of you can go there and /. them. There's also some SAP DB Logos available for download."

  • I just ordered it (got there before the thundering /. herd) and they aren't even charging shipping & handling.

There is a check box on the address form that allows SAP to use the personal information for 'internal uses.' Easily unchecked, though.

  • Do you have a better URL? The one given -- for the SAP-Shop -- doesn't have a clear way to get to the database. Is it SAP Knowledge? Is it SAP Merchandise? I SAP Don't Know, and I SAP Can't Find The Damn Thing.

Following the SAP Merchandise seems to be presenting me with a bunch of SAP Souveniers, not SAP Products (yay, I can buy a SAP Pin or a SAP CD Pouch), and the only promising link -- software! -- leads to a page of ...clothing.

Searching for SAP DB brings me to a list of which the 4th item is -- huzzah! -- an actual product description that seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. However, there is only one link on this page, and it points ...back to the damn Shop page.

I'm getting SAP Annoyed. This is ridiculous.

  • Got my CD in today's mail - fast and free.

Interestingly enough, it was actually mailed from Germany (SAP's home base) rather the through SAP-USA.

Now I just need to find time to play with it...
