We have two seasons, the wet season and the dry season.
Which I collectively refer to as "the drinking season". That is my favorite.

I heard on the radio that drinking is a real problem amongst our unemployed indigenous Australians here in the top end.
They are on welfare, and have 50 standard drinks a day, before passing out in the bush and sleeping it off.
Anyway, Next time you see someone sleeping under a broad-sheet newspaper on a park bench in the snow - just think: If they had been trained by our blackfellas, they could be enjoying 50 standard drinks before sleeping in the relative comfort of long grass in a 30C/86F degree Australian winters' day.

If by 'people' you mean English speaking North Americans, then you're probably right. In (all?) other English speaking countries, Autumn is the term used, and fall is only heard on American and Canadian TV shows and films.

Just thinking about having to spend significant time outdoors during the summer around here makes me start to sweat. Hell Spring and Fall aren't all that much better, we get maybe a couple weeks of pleasant temperatures a year. I think part of it though is aging. I find that as I get older I have less and less patience to deal with being out in the heat.

I wonder how many respondents are in the northern hemisphere (not to mention in a place with seasons). Specifically because, if many of them are, I'd expect Fall to be the choice right now. In Winter, I'd expect spring to get the highest number of votes.
This is really insightful, since we tend to anticipate the upcoming season. The only exception I think would be in Fall, when I don't think any more people would pick Winter. People don't tend to look forward to Winter unless they do year-round.

It's the best three weeks in Canada, and the only time you are able to go outside in shorts, sandals, and a t-shirt at any time of the day or night and not freeze. Plus we get 16 hours of sunshine! :)
Fall is my least favorite. Sure there's the magnificent fall colors, but that only lasts two or three weeks. After the leaves all fall off we're left with 50 shades of drab, dreary, depressing grey for two months until the snow comes in late December and brightens up the place a little.

I don't really see why fall is so popular either. Where I live, fall just means mud, storm and cold rain, rain, rain every day. It means the light goes away and you won't see the sunball again until next May or June if you're lucky.

Here in England, winter is just a darker, slightly colder version of autumn.

Winter. It's the best three weeks in Texas, and the only time you're able to go outside without becoming sticky with sweat after 15 seconds at any time of the day or night. Plus, you get so sleep with an actual blanket, instead of the thinnest sheet you can find. It's great to actually be able to wear normal clothes outdoors—layers! Suits! Coats!
Summer is my least favorite. Sure, you can go to the beach, but it lasts eight months, from April through November, and every second of it is an experience in humid misery. You spend your time dashing from one air conditioned space to the next, dreading your $400 monthly electricity bill (because of your home's central air), and dreaming of what it feels like to be cold.
If I could move, I would. Unfortunately—perhaps BECAUSE it's so miserable down here—home prices are ludicrously reasonable, so I stay.

When I was a restless kid with unlimited energy, it was summer hands down. The seemingly endless summer break, the adventures, the DIY projects...
Now it's autumn. As an adult you appreciate the subtlety and richness under the unassuming quietness of the falling leaves.
I suppose in a few decades when the prospect of graveyard starts to manifest over the horizon, I will find the allure of winter.
Interestingly enough, there is a parallel in my favorite color over the years.

Spring - Nicer weather so I can open the windows and air the house out. Roads are opening up for motorcycling (watch out for sand in the corners though). Ground is softening so I can open the greenhouse shed and get the plants out into the yard. Hiking and camping. Interspersed with rain and the occasional snow so I can stay inside and veg if I want.
Summer - GenCon gaming convention. Summer trips on the motorcycle up to the northern states, Canada, and then Alaska (2014; we'll see) because it's cooler (watch out for the super-sized mosquitoes in Canada though). Hiking or motorcycling in the mountains to get cool. Hot in the Front Range so I can stay inside and veg if I want.
Fall/Autumn - Tacticon gaming convention. Halloween so costumes and Zombie Crawl. Nicer weather so I can turn off the AC and open the windows. Mosquitoes are dormant so I can sit outside and enjoy the coolness. Motorcycling in the mountains (watch out for early snow). Rain leading to snow so I can stay inside and veg if I want.
Winter - GenghisCon gaming convention. Riding my motorcycle in cooler weather, enjoying the briskness (it's not snowing _all_ the time :) ). Cold weather and snow so I can stay inside and veg if I want.
Staying inside and vegging generally includes learning and playing guitar (for now; I want to learn piano soon), working on my various computer projects, board and role playing games, playing pool, reading, and occasionally watching a movie.
Tough. Every one has their good and bad sides. When I lived in Virginia, I was more of an inclement weather type of person since I mostly stayed inside and it was a good excuse, but after moving to Colorado, I find I enjoy going up into the mountains to play to be great fun and being in the center of the States, I can zip to most places in a couple of days of riding especially since family is on both coasts.
So favorite? The current season.

Up here at the bottom of Lapland, November is a season in its own right. Autumn is nice, but wet sometimes. Winter is nice, but dark. November, being just wet and dark, sucks.

I usually get fed up with seasons by about the 2-month mark. Personally, I just like it when they change.
Seeing the first flowers poke up through the snow in the spring. That first sunny day of summer when it's warm enough to go to the beach. The crispness in the air and the changing leaves at the beginning of fall. The magic of the first snowfall of the year.
Change is what's awesome.

On the contrary, here in the south winter means being free to leave the house without being constantly oppresed by the unbearable intensity of the sun and suffocating in the humidity. Down here spring and fall are about the only time that you'll get nice weather and even then it's only for a week or two each. Winter is pretty ugly here as half the trees lose their leaves but there isn't much color change and other wise it's just colder and wetter than normal with no snow, so winter sports aren't workable either.
My favorite season though is fall, because I come from an area where it is actually a distinct season. I always loved the color changes and it always meant county fairs and the best holidays when I was a kid.

4 - Summer - As a Texan put it, you melt in the heat and humidity. Riding is performed either early in the morning or as the sunsets. Horses sweat, people sweat, roads melt, there is little to no breeze, the sun feels like heat lamp set to 11. Summer sucks
3 - Winter - Coldest time though temperatures can bounce from freezing one day to 70's the next. Ground is hard on horses, buckets freeze, it's dark long enough to start getting depressed, and riding is best done in the afternoon when (frustratingly) this developer has to make money to feed the horse habit. Still, with layers I can rider on most days without precipitation.
2 - Fall - It comes in late (heat spikes till Oct), but it starts the Eventing competition and as fall progresses the horses get frisky, the air temps are wonderful, the scenery fantastic and nice holidays. After I put lights on my practice area I didn't mind so much the darkening gloom, riding after work.
1 - Spring - I've been riding most the winter, the horse is fit, more rain at time, but ground is soft. Horses are frisky, air is fresh and cool, and I just love seeing new growth.

I'm guessing if you live in an area where summer is nothing but a hot sweltering mess, you will select fall. However, I've lived in the North East US/Canada for all of my life and summer is my favorite season. I like having warm temperatures at night, golfing, swimming, boating, etc.
Fall is nice for the first month, but it then starts getting dark early, cold at night (i.e. frost), and all those pretty leaves leaves fall off the trees leaving them bare. Late fall also tends to be windy, then stormy, then the frost moves in. I do love football, baseball playoffs, and Thanksgiving. But I don't have any kids and am not a big fan of Halloween.
Give me the gentle summer breezes, fast moving thunderstorms, ice cream, beaches, bikinis, and margaritas any day.....

Likewise. Most of my life I've lived in temperate oceanic climates (Palmerston North, Auckland, currently Hobart) where summer is best. Occasionally I've lived in temperate continental climate (Princeton NJ, Sydney) where spring/autumn are best.
If I lived in Singapore, it would be 'Seasons? What are they?' Going on climate records climate records [wikipedia.org] only (no personal experience), Singapore has the least variable weather of anywhere I know. (Average daily high is 1.7C higher in the hottest month than the coldest. The range of record highest temperature to record lowest temperature is 16.6C. Rainfall is more seasonal, but still less than a factor of two between wettest and driest month.) Can anyone find a less seasonal place than Singapore?
