rhathar writes "Little more than a month after acquiring Virtual Iron for an undisclosed fee, Oracle is effectively killing the company's virtualization product. In a letter to Virtual Iron's sales partners, Oracle says it "will suspend development of existing Virtual Iron products and will suspend delivery of orders to new customers."

One partner said, "So basically, anyone that built their hosting infrastructure on VI...is now totally in the shit."

Oracle is currently pursuing the Sun's virtualization technology as well as developing their own. While Oracle has reported VirtualIron capabilities will be incorporated into their own product, such a merger is likely to take up to a year."
