An anonymous reader writes "There is a lot of technology for the hearing impaired for keeping them aware inside the home; like when the doorbell rings, or if a smoke alarm goes off, lights in the house will strobe. A co-worker and myself were discussing this the other day, wondering if the "connected home" idea has met a crossroads with the hearing aid technology? Her daughter is mostly deaf, but still uses a phone/tablet. Is there something, for example, that would combine the ability of having lights strobe when a doorbell rings as well as a notification to the tablet or phone?"
