An anonymous reader writes "Earlier in the year Mozilla announced that it would block tracking cookies by default. The online ad industry hasn't gotten them to back down, so now it's trying a new strategy: lobbying Congress. Four Republican lawmakers have written a letter to Mozilla urging it to drop the new privacy protections. What will happen as the open-source community and Washington politics collide? I, for one, can't wait to see how Mozilla responds."
