who_stole_my_kidneys (1956012) writes "Slashdot started redirecting users in February to its newly revamped webpage and received a huge backlash from users. The majority of comments dislike the new site while some do offer solutions to make it better. The question is will Slashdot force the unwanted change on its users that clearly do not want change?"

I just logged in for the first time in probably 5-6 years just for the sole purpose of promoting this article.

No bones about it, if /. continues this fools errand to push Beta on us, not only will I never log in again, but I will never visit again.

Here's how to get Classic for a while longer:
Edit a cookie called "betagroup" and change it to something like 99. Presumably they are forcing another group to Beta every day. I also changed "sendtobeta" to zero from 1. Don't think that one did it.

+1 (But I want to comment, so can't use real mod points.) I've been here since it was Chips and Dips. I've even sent them money on occasion. If Beta's all I can get, I'll take nothing, thank you.

I've been here a long time too (not as long as you!) I've calculated it as probably 1999.

I've also sent them money, and I still have credit! I'm slowly using it, but beta seems to throw away the credit.

  • I've just now registered "AltSlashdot.org".

I intend to run a site much like Slashdot used to be - better articles, less decoration and less "in your face" functionality. I'm revewing and getting comfortable with slashcode right now.

I'm looking for volunteers to help with setup and running the site. If the site becomes profitable, I intend to hire from the pool of volunteers. If you've ever wanted to participate in a site like Slashdot, here's your chance!

I'm particularly in need of people who can: .) Set up
