We've got it fresh from the people who engineered this piece, people; hacker Zappaz and his crew have released an early, dirty, uncompiled version of their proof of concept iPhone SIM unlock source code. Hit the link and check it out -- we just suggest that unless you're a serious hacker you not use it yourself (yet) until the kinks are worked out.

  WiFi - A Warning Signal 2007-05-22 03:20

Journal by Morty Vicar on Tuesday May 22 2007, @03:20AM
The BBC has an article asking if WiFi signals are damaging to us, especially children. In one example the investigators found that radio frequency radiation levels in some schools are up to three times the level found in the main beam of intensity from mobile phone masts.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/667 4675.stm

One scientist is calling for WiFi to be removed from schools altogether. Dr Gerd Oberfeld, from Salzburg said: "If you go into the data you can see a very very clear picture - it is like a puzzle and everything fits together from DNA break ups to the animal studies and up to the epidemiological evidence; that shows for example increased symptoms as well as increased cancer rates."

Legality of China GFW to be tried in court 2007-05-22 03:18 ypwong

Submitted by ypwong on Tuesday May 22 2007, @03:18AM
ypwong writes "The very first case against the infamous Great Firewall of China used for Internet content censorship in China is to be tried in court on 29th May 2007. On 28th February, 2007, the author of an open source personal financial software RealCIX cannot reached his site from within China. Since then he contacted his ISP China Telecom and demanded an explanation but to no avail. Finally with the help of many people including Richard M. Stallman, he has collected enough evidence and took the case to court. Although the defendant of this case is not directly the Chinese government but just the ISP, the GFW will continue to exist and annoy Chinese Internet users for a long time, but this surely will arouse the general public's awareness of the severity of Internet censorship in China and serves to be the foundation for people fighting for a greater degree of freedom of speech in the country."

  The Goat's Birthday 2007-05-21 22:58 Ace905

Submitted by Ace905 on Monday May 21 2007, @10:58PM
Ace905 writes "The infamous goat-see web site turns 10 years old today (Tuesday May 22, 2007). While links to the 'notorious shock site' have been the bane of slashdot's existence — it none the less has become an iconic folk-hero of the web in the last 10 years its been online. Its history is long and diverse, with numerous hidden references and tributes in games and G-rated copycats paying tribute to the site the world over. So while we can censor a link to the actual site, let us toast its success in shocking us repeatedly for the past 10 years."
