I personally use the Xtreme USB linker with a 64mbit cart, and it works well with both old and new (SP) GBA's. In fact there is no incompatibility, flash carts that work on the GBA will work on the SP. To learn more about the GBA dev scene, check out:

Unfortunately, I couldn't get my game done in time for the GBAX.com deadline, but here it is: Vitamins, a GPL'd clone of Dr. Mario for GBA [pineight.com]. From the looks of things, it appears CmdrTaco would want to play this [slashdot.org].

CmdrTaco may also be interested in the upcoming Gamecube "Nintendo Puzzle Collection" which supposedly lets you download portable versions of the three games included (Dr. Mario, Yoshi's Cookie, and Panel de Pon) to your GBA.
