OpenZaurus 3.2 Released 13

mpeg4codec writes "I was surfing around to-day and noticed that the OpenZaurus team has released OpenZaurus 3.2 Final. It's rather funny, because the ``unstable'' version still reads OpenZaurus 3.1-rc3.1. Wonder why they released this version as 3.2. They say lots of bug fixes and some new features. Check it out at the OpenZaurus web site."

This should fix lots of the bugs people have been having problems with in OpenZaurus 3.0, and hopefully OpenZaurus will become more popular mainstream now...

...because actually i'm just karma whoring and I never even heard of OpenZaurus until now.

Some software releases use odd version numbers for beta, and even numbers for release versions (or vice versa). Maybe this is one of them.
    • You know...I was wondering the same thing myself. It could get awefully confusing if you are attempting to install something from what you THINK is the latest feed. I guess you just have to look at it as stable = Even and testing/unstable=odd. Dunno...

Argh, this comes out JUST after I decided to go back to the Sharp ROM because of app instability and other problems. I'll probably stick with the Sharp ROM until 3.4 or so comes out just cuz I'm tired of re-doing all my to-do lists and settings (typing WEP keys on a thumb-keyboard is a bitch ya know?)

    To anybody who's using it:

    1) Does Opera work? I mean does it ALWAYS work without crashing on PNGs or other random reasons? I like it better than Konq, though I use both.

    2) On that note: does Konq install pro

      1) I could never get it to play nice. You couldn't see the icons or button pictures correctly. It also tended to puke every now and then.

      2) Finally I was able to install Konquerer ok. It appears to hit the sites w/o even a hiccup. I got it to work by installing as many libs as I felt might be needed to run Konq. Don't ask, I just picked them at random. I really don't feel like digging around in the ipkgs to find the damed dependencies.

3 or 2) There is always opiemail. I can't get it to work, but I

Hook your Zaurus up to your PC and use VNC to do anything that requires a lot of typing.

I have been playing around w/ it for the past few days. I must say this is the best release so far (as it should be :). Only beef I ever had involves the lack of documentation for installing stable feed ipkgs. You almost have to stumble around and pray you can install the correct dependencies. For instance, I am unable to install LIRC as it requires kernel-modules-2.4.6-rmk1-np2-embedix. Well...I have the kernel modules installed (duh...). I don't see any other ipkgs that meet this requirement in the

I got a Zaurus SL-5500 with the posting of the awesome deal at HSN a week or two ago. It's an awesome machine, better than I expected coming from a Newton 2100.

One big beef I have: How the hell can I have more than one Opera web window open at a time?! You can on WinCE, and it sure seems silly for a Linux PDA with "so much more power" according to al lthe Linux and OPIE zealouts to not be able to have more than one browser window at a time. :P
