Submission + - A co-Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Dat

An anonymous reader writes: Non-relational, or NoSQL, databases have become a hot topic, what with their promise to solve the problem of distilling valuable information and business insight from big data in a scalable and programmer-friendly way. However, as Microsoft researchers Erik Meijer and Gavin Bierman point out, “The nascent NoSQL market is extremely fragmented, with many competing vendors and technologies. Programming, deploying and managing NoSQL solutions requires specialized and low-level knowledge that does not easily carry over from one vendor’s product to another.” Thus, there is a need for standardization. In this article Meijer and Bierman present a — mathematical model and standardized query language (“coSQL”) that could be used to unify SQL and NoSQL data models.
