This brings the MapReduce algorithm to the cloud and to a whole new set of users who don't have to become experts in parallel programming to apply it. The best known and used MapReduce implementation is Hadoop, which is open source. Microsoft has made the suggestion that Daytona may also go open source "pending community feedback".
