Cooking Up Some Python 3

surflorida writes: "ActiveState and Oreilly are co-sponsoring a project called the Python Cookbook that is currently being developed publicly and collaboratively at the ActiveState Web site. Individuals, members of the Python user community, are contributing the scripts. All the scripts are and will be available for free download from ActiveState's site. O'Reilly will publish the best ones in a book, and some of the proceeds will benefit the Python Software Foundation."

I am looking forward to this, I found the Perl Cookbook to be much more useful for learning Perl than any of the books that had the stated objective of teaching Perl as a language.

  • I've heard a lot of people say stuff like "I love python but it needs something like CPAN which the perl community has (like the Vaults of Parnassus don't exist or something - anyway - I digress). Hopefully this will please those people.
  • Well I like the Perl Cookbook too, but the very best thing for learning the language was having a real honest to gosh deadline breathing down my neck.
