  • At least now we won't have to write the core things thrice or more, once for the pc, once for the pda and once for the cell phone...

Granted, UI's have to be different.
  • InfoSync also has a news bit regarding an Ogg Vorbis(-only for now) player [infosyncworld.com] for the Sony Ericsson P800 cellphone. Now just think of you could have Ogg Vorbis ringtones ;)

I misread this as "Sybian OS hits streets", and instantly got an image of Nvidia's Dawn pixie in an adult situation.
    • I was waiting for the obligatory sex-toy joke. ;)

      It's [slashdot.org] starting [slashdot.org] to [slashdot.org] get [slashdot.org] a [slashdot.org] bit [slashdot.org] old [slashdot.org], though [slashdot.org].
      • Woah, there buddy. You definately have too much time on your hands. This is the first time I've made the symbian-sybian connection. I guess it just goes to show that nobody ever has an original thought. How depressing!

Now my plans for taking over the world using hordes of CLDC/MIDP MIDlets, all communicating via Bluetooth, can be realised! Soon, your phone will become your worst enemy...

But seriously, I've heard this release includes an implementation of JSR-82 [jcp.org], the standard Java API for Bluetooth. This will be very cool, you'll be able to write java apps for the P800 [sonyericsson.com] which can do Bluetooth!

    w00t!

  • Is this open as in open source, or open as in closed?

Oh, and as an aside, can I freely download it and run it on an emulator without having to pay for it, so I can develop apps?
