I appreciate your criticism and your opinion; however, I just cant understand one small, tiny, little thing: ok, such directories arent perfect, they are subjective and they arent the masterpieces made by abandoned genius(es?). But if at least a hundred of users make use of it, then they actually ARE useful for them, arent they? Ok, you are a professional, you dont need that; but many people do - would it be better if such a directory didnt exist? Frankly, I dont think so. You?

First of all, if you would follow the link you might have found out that the web-site which is linked in the article isn't my own blog, but is just the project "Web-Dev-Bookmarks".

Besides, I don't see any problem in announcing my web-site which might be useful for web-developers.

As you might have read in the introduction, I created this list (initially) for my purposes. As a web-designer and a member of some lets call it web-design-groups, I need those tools mentioned in my list practically every day.

I was trying to be funny and at the same time to to address what I see as a problem in Slashdot's recent decline in newworthiness and timeliness. It seems all too easy lately to get any old thing posted as front-page news on this site. Apparently nobody else got the joke, either.

I did look at your site. There's nothing wrong with it, but it is IMO fairly ordinary as such things go, and I have at least a dozen similar listings in my bookmarks.

Very nicely done Vitaly and not only added to my bookmarks but my field book as well for handing out to those that ask (all to many!) for a guide. Normally I have to find these through following the sig-block links but on a slow news day, as today seems, I don't mind at all seeing this show up as an article. Besides, this one beats the all too frequently out of date Google directory hands down. The "love" shows. Keep up the good work.

Hmm... Well, Google might serve as an ultimate resource for finding web-developers' tools, but how much time would it take to find, lets say five essential ressources you've lost in the jungle of your bookmarks folder? Or five really useful color tools? If you ask Google for "color tool" I am not sure that you'll get what you want. You?

I'm always looking for good aggregators. Yes I can hit google myself, but the web is so big.... and of course if there is one thing on the web it is stuff about web development. So the volume can be overwhelming. I'll be happy to start perusing this site and see if it does a good job of finding worthwhile sites and saving me the time and effort of wading through the junk.

The guy may have submitted his own site, but can you blame him? I don't. And I don't see anywhere he is asking for money from me.

Where are the links to the standards??

For me one of the most important things in a web is that it follow the standards so it can reach more people.

I've been checking and I've not find any link to the latest versions of the standards.

A web page for web developers must have a big & easy to find link to the actual standards and then some other links to tutorials, tips, etc...

Any web developer should already know where to find the standards. The material was intended to be a handbook.

The standards are almost unreadable, anyways-- no need to use them unless its an emergency!

If not try, just about any other category because if it doesn't open with the definitive/authoritative, spec or recommendation, there isn't one.
